The best-selling SUV in Cadillac’s lineup is getting 40 updates for the 2020 model year. Cadillac says that the improvements on the 2020 Cadillac XT5 give customers a greater ability to, “match the luxury crossover to their personality.”
Cadillac is adding a Sport trim level, which is slotted between the base Luxury and midgrade Premium Luxury trims. The XT5 Sport has sharper driving dynamics, standard all-wheel drive, and a bolder, darker appearance. XT5 Premium Luxury models are defined by bright trim, contemporary décor, and a comfort-tuned driving experience.
A twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard and gets 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet. of torque. Buyers can upgrade to a 3.5-liter V6 engine that is freshly paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The larger engine achieves 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque.
The SUV has revised front struts and given the SUV driveline enhancements.
Cadillac has added standard LED headlmaps with IntelliBeam on all models. The SUV’s front and rear fascia have also been updated. A new 18-inch wheel is standard on Luxury and Premium Luxury models while a 20-inch wheel is available. Sport trim models have standard 20-inch wheels.
The car’s cabin now comes with a host of options including a wider variety of colors and materials for seating, a new center console design, standard heated front seats, and the available Bose Performance Series sound system.
The XT5 has been enhanced to include over 20 available safety and driver assistance technologies including a rotary controller, Near Field Communications technology, 15-watt wireless charging, revised USB ports, an HD instrument cluster, a high-definition rearview camera, Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist with Braking, Rear Pedestrian Alert, and Night Vision.
It comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot.
The company will sell the 2020 XT5 with an available Platinum package, which Cadillac is billing as, “the pinnacle of technology and most sophisticated interior in the lineup.” The package is available on all trim levels.
The 2020 Cadillac XT5 is now available on dealership lots nationwide.
