It’s performance and craftsmanship for less money. The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 coupe is the new lower-cost variant of the Mercedes-AMG GT.

Under the hood is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that yields 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. It also has the Mercedes-Benz EQ Boost mild-hybrid system that provides an additional 21 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque bringing the total to 382 horsepower and 553 pound-feet. That second number is nothing to sneeze at. The car can get from zero to 60 mpg in 4.8 seconds.

The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The new four-seater rides on the same AMG GT chassis and has the same level of standard performance equipment found on the AMG GT 5 including a variety of drive modes, AMG Ride Control Sport Suspension, all-wheel drive with variable torque distribution, silver painted 6- piston front brake calipers, and an electronically-deployable rear spoiler.

It also has a standard Burmester surround sound system and Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, which includes learning-capable software, natural speed recognition, and touch screen capability for the 2021 model year.

Mercedes offers the model in a number of configurations and with a wide variety of packages. These options include a variety of interior configurations, such as the standard two-place individual rear-seats, or the optional executive rear-seat package, as well as a wide variety of wheel options and the incomparable Burmester High-End three-dimensional surround sound system.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 43 starts at $89,900, which is significantly less than its AMG GT family members. The higher-end 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT roadster starts at $127,900 while the high-power version of the roadster has a price tag of $162,400. All prices exclude a $1,050 destination and delivery charge.

Delivers to dealerships in the U.S. are expected to begin in late 2020.
