Toyota has promised that it will sell 17 electrified models in the U.S. by 2025 and the 2021 Toyota RAV4 PHEV is expected to fill one of those slots. The Plano, Texas-based automaker will announce the arrival of the model at the Los Angeles Auto Show on Nov. 20.
When it debuts, the RAV4 plug-in will be featured with a Supersonic Red paint job, which Toyota said is designed to showcase the model’s performance chops. The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is currently the top-performing compact SUV in the lineup with 176 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid gets 41 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 39 mpg combined.
It is likely that the charging port on the 2021 Toyota RAV4 PHEV will be located on the opposite side of the vehicle from the SUV’s gasoline fuel filler door, as it is in the Toyota Prius Prime.
Toyota says that Toyota Hybrid sales are up 150 percent since the debut of the redesigned model late last year, exceeding expectations.
Alongside the image and info tease, Toyota announced that they will be selling the 2021 RAV4 PHEV with a 10-year/150,000-mile battery warranty and an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on other hybrid components. Hybrid components include the hybrid battery control module, hybrid control module, and the inverter with converter.
Those warranties will not just be for the original vehicle purchaser. They will extend onto future owners of the vehicle, in perpetuity, until their timelines have expired.
