The 2022 Nissan Frontier will be unveiled in full this week.

A redesigned Nissan Frontier is coming. Finally. And you won’t have to wait long. The 2022 Nissan Frontier will officially break cover this week. Ahead of that reveal, the Japan-based automaker is teasing out the model with a video that shows off much of the model.

This new generation of the Frontier was originally slated as a 2021 model, following a 2020 refresh of the last-generation Frontier that included the engine for the new Frontier being installed. But when COVID-19 struck, plans were pushed back to the 2022 model year.

The teaser video opens with a black wheel surrounded by a grippy tire traversing desert trail conditions. The wheel cap is black with what looks like an Infrared Nissan logo at its center. That logo is the new Nissan design.

Just a second further into the video it’s revealed that the Frontier PRO-4X is the model being shown. The PRO-4X grade designation is traditionally meant for the most off-road capable version of a Nissan product. The six double-V-spoke wheels (similar if not identical to what is available on the Titan) and the Infrared logo on the black wheel cap would seem to confirm that styling cues from the Titan PRO-4X have been transferred to the 2022 Frontier.

It’s hard to tell if the Frontier is shown the Baja Storm paint color but it also may be previewed in Nissan’s Gun Metallic paint job, or a new color altogether. There are color-matched mirror caps and black dividers on the B-pillars as well as black window surrounds.

At the back of the Frontier, the taillights appear to be nearly identical to what is on Titan, likely sans the “T” however.

Final imagery of the truck shows its matte black honeycomb grille with an Infrared Nissan logo on a matte black background. Large “Frontier” lettering features on the top of the grille where the Titan has its “Titan” lettering.
