The Ford F-Series will once again take the crown as the most popular vehicle in the U.S. this year, but it’s not the most popular vehicle in every state. Some prefer the F-Series rivals from Ram, Chevrolet, and GMC. Others prefer SUVs like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.
iSeeCars recently analyzed the new cars sales data from all 50 states and determined that the Ford F-150 is the most popular new car in 22 out of 50 states including some of the largest truck markets in the country like Texas, Colorado, and Georgia. Ford is on pace to sell around three-quarters of a million F-Series trucks in 2020, far out-selling the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, which is tops in five states (Oklahoma, North Carolina, Missouri, Indiana, and Iowa). The Ram 1500 was tops in four states (Alaska, Arizona, Michigan, and North Dakota).
The Hyundai Tucson performed exceedingly well versus the competition, capturing six states that are primarily in the Northeast (Rhode Island, New York, New Hampshire, Illinois, and Florida) while the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 each captured buyers in a handful of states. The CR-V and RAV4 far outsell the Tucson when nationwide sales figures are taken into account.
Three states stand out – Hawaii, California, and Washington. In Hawaii, the Nissan Frontier is tops. California and Washington go for the Honda Civic and Subaru Forester, respectively.
