A new study by Cars.com lists the most American-made vehicles. The 2020 American-Made Index ranks vehicles based on five factors: assembly location, parts sourcing, engine sourcing, transmission sourcing, and U.S. factory employment relative to vehicle production.
There are around 350 new vehicle models for sale today. Of those, 91 qualified to be ranked by Cars.com based on some level of impact to the U.S. economy. Those 91 represented 13 automakers in 14 states.

No. 20 – Ford Expedition

Assembly Location: Louisville, Kentucky
The three-row Ford Expedition checks a lot of boxes for families. Not only is it spacious and stylish, it is as capable as many trucks. The model features F-150-like interior design with top trim levels delivering luxury-like appointments. For 2020, Ford added new Expedition King Ranch and Platinum grades, and made the FX4 Off-Road Package available.
No. 19 – Cadillac XT4

Assembly Location: Kansas City, Kansas
The Cadillac XT4 is a subcompact size SUV that gives buyers a high-quality interior for a steep price. The XT4 is comfortable and plush with refined aesthetics in the top grade. The SUV is most noted for its large cargo area and spacious legroom for second-row passengers.
No. 18 – Cadillac CT5

The CT5 is a fresh addition to the Cadillac lineup for the 2020 model year. It’s stylish and sophisticated, delivering what buyers are most looking for – a comfortable and smooth ride. The car has a long list of standard and available features.
No. 17 – Acura MDX

The Acura MDX is a three-row SUV that is the automaker’s premium counter punch to the Honda Pilot. The MDX hasn’t had any major changes for the 2020 model year as production of the current generation winds down to make room for the next. Still, it’s a comfortable and fuel-efficient option for families.
No. 16 – Toyota Tundra

Assembly Location: San Antonio, Texas
There’s a redesigned Toyota Tundra on the horizon but that hasn’t stopped Toyota from selling a significant number of current model year Tundras. The model has a dated interior and is fuel inefficient, but it’s comfortable and has a long list of standard and available features.
No. 15 – Honda Accord
Assembly Location: Marysville, Ohio
The Honda Accord is near the top of every sedan shoppers wish list, and for good reason. It is a near-premium car in its top trim levels, fuel-efficient (especially as a hybrid), and comfortable. The Accord has an easy-to-use infotainment system and good legroom.
No. 14 – Acura RDX

The Acura RDX offers an engaging drive, gobs of cargo space, and premium appointments, all at a cost lower than its top German competitors. The SUV has a stylish front end, available A-Spec package that gives the SUV black accents, and plenty of power.
No. 13 – Honda Pilot

The Honda Pilot is a three-row SUV with a lot to offer. It has gotten more robust over the years and now offers torque-vectoring technology and drive modes. The Pilot is a more capable off-roader than many give it credit for. It’s also got plenty of space for adults in its third row, which is not something many three-row SUVs can brag about.
No. 12 – Chevrolet Camaro

Despite being around for decades, the Chevrolet Camaro still wins plenty of fans each year. It’s easy to see why. The car is exciting to drive when equipped with its most powerful engines, has engaging handling, and its infotainment system is easy to use. Chevy has given the car comfy front seats though the rear seats are a tight squeeze.
No. 11 – GMC Canyon

The GMC Canyon is the premium version of the Chevrolet Colorado. The two trucks match each other in almost every capability respect, but the Canyon has different styling that’s most apparent on the interior. GMC sells a Denali variant of the truck and the Canyon AT4 grade is coming soon.
No. 10 – Chevrolet Colorado

The Chevrolet Colorado benefits from its strong engine lineup, diverse array of build options, comfortable ride, and high towing capacity. For the 2020 model year the Colorado has gotten an updated infotainment system and an extended list of standard and available features.
No. 9 – Tesla Model X
Assembly Location: Fremont, California
The Tesla Model X is the most family-friendly model the California-based automaker delivers. It seats up to seven and has unique features like falcon wing doors, a mostly spartan interior, large infotainment screen, and a panoramic sunroof. The Model X can be optioned as a fairly typical EV daily driver or landed up to be a zippy hauler.
No. 8 – Chevrolet Corvette

Chevrolet redesigned the Corvette for the 2020 model year. The new edition moves the engine to the middle and keeps airplane-inspired design, kicking it up a notch. The car is fast and capable of taking on the track with ease.
No. 7 – Honda Passport
Assembly Location: Lincoln, Alabama
The Honda Passport is back. Designed to be trail-ready, this luxe family hauler is a good choice for families or empty nesters who want and upgraded, near-premium two-row SUV but don’t want to break the bank. The Passport was especially capable and comfortable when AutomotiveMap tested it in Yosemite National Park last year and while camping in the Roofnest Sparrow.
No. 6 – Honda Ridgeline
Assembly Location: Lincoln, Alabama
The Honda Ridgeline has as nice of an interior as you’ll find in a midsize pickup. Its engine is powerful enough and paired with a standard nine-speed automatic transmission. It can tow and haul, but not as much as much of its competition. Still, its unique tailgate and in-bed trunk set it apart.
No. 5 – Honda Odyssey

The Honda Odyssey is built alongside the Ridgeline and Passport at Honda’s facility in Alabama. The models share many components, which is obvious to even the casual observer who sets foot inside any of the three. What they also have in common is their family-friendly appeal and high crash test ratings.
No. 4 – Tesla Model 3

The Model 3 is the smallest car in the Tesla lineup. AutomotiveMap recently test drove one for 90 days and the results were … mixed … but all in all, pretty positive for the EV.
No. 3 – Tesla Model S

The Tesla Model S is currently the oldest car the company is selling, but it just hit a major innovation milestone. The Environmental Protection Agency just confirmed that you can get over 400 miles of range from the model making it the first production car to register that figure.
No. 2 – Jeep Cherokee
Assembly Location: Belvidere, Illinois
The Jeep Cherokee is compact, but it packs a heck of a punch. Four adults can fit comfortably into the modern four-wheel drive SUV. It has one of the easiest-to-use infotainment systems available. Jeep has made the Cherokee’s steering properly weighted to allow for easy maneuvering through rocks or parking lots.
No. 1 – Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger made a big splash when it was re-introduced, giving American buyers a smaller Ford truck to spend their money on yet again. Though it wasn’t a completely new truck when it made its U.S. debut, Ford engineers had significantly modified the model for North American customizers, making it plenty off-road capable and a viable daily driver.
