Chevy is offering off-road equipment that can turn your off-roader into a desert prowler.

The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is a mean mother, on- and off-road. The ZR2 Bison is even more so.

To prove its prowess, Chevrolet teamed up with Hall Racing for 11 Best of the Desert races totaling 3,275 miles of terrain covered. Out of the 434 vehicle that competed in those 11 races, only four have completed each of them. The production-based Hall Racing ZR2 is one of them.

“Our goal with the Best in the Desert competition is to push the engineering and development of the Colorado platform in the most extreme conditions imaginable,” said Mark Dickens, chief engineer, Government Programs, Performance Variants, Parts and Motorsports. “We’ve already learned things over the past two years that have shaped our off-road portfolio, including the performance parts and motorsports catalog, production vehicles and GM Defense projects.”

Driver Chad Hall’s vehicle began its life as a traditional ZR2 Bison, right off the assembly line. From there, the truck was modified with prototype suspension and driveline parts. Those components now make up 15 factory parts that are available to customers via the Chevrolet performance catalogue.

Additionally, Hall Racing added a 1.5-inch body lift System, font and rear jounce shock systems, a ZR2 steel driveshaft, plunging ball spline half shaft system, and severe duty tie rod sleeve systems.

Further upgardes include skid plates on the engine, transmission, and differential as well as other American Expedition Vehicles Colorado accessories like Crestone DualSport beadlock wheels and a snorkel for air filtration while racing in dusty climates.
