Charging your electric vehicle in a hurry is about to get more convenient. Nissan and EVgo are teaming up to install 200 new 100kW DC fast charging stations in select cities across the U.S.
Each of the new chargers will have both CHAdeMO and CCS connectors.
“Nissan is proud to have partnered with EVgo to build the largest public EV fast charging network in the U.S.,” said Aditya Jairaj, director, EV Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America Inc. “Given the tremendous driver response to the 2019 long-range all-electric LEAF, Nissan and EVgo will accelerate fast charging by committing to a multi-year charger construction program that will continue to expand fast-charging options for EV drivers across the country.”

Chargers that are part of this deal will be installed close to established electric vehicle markets. Current EVgo chargers in the U.S. are most heavily concentrated on the East and West Coasts as well as select locations in the Midwest.
The U.S. Department of Energy reports that there are 26,704 non-residential charging stations in the country spread between Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast charging stations.
EVgo has over 1,200 chargers. They open a new station every six to eight weeks and their stations experience over 100,000 charges per month. According to the charging company, more than 100 million Americans currently live within a 15-minute drive of an EVgo fast charger.
As part of the agreement, Nissan and EVgo will co-market the charger installation initiative and work to raise awareness of the advantages of choosing an electric vehicle, like the Nissan Leaf and Nissan Leaf Plus.
