Ford is plugging a hole in its lineup with a new appearance-focused model.

Want the looks of the Ford Edge ST but not al the power? Ford thought so too. The 2020 Ford Edge ST-Line offers just that and expands what they’re now calling the “ST family”.

The Edge ST-Line has design inspired by Ford Performance models including the ST-style grille, body color bumpers, black ST belt line molding, lower sport cladding, standard fog lamps, and LED lighting. Up top are black roof rails. The entire SUV rides on 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels. Edge ST-Line badging features.

Under the hood is a 250-horsepower twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and has auto start-stop capability. It comes standard with all-wheel drive.>

The list of technology features includes SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Waze, and Amazon Alexa capability. There’s also a wireless charging pad.

Ford has made its Co-Pilot360 Assist Plus suite of driver assistance and safety technology available. It includes enhanced active park assist, evasion steering assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, land-centering technology, and all-wheel drive disconnect.

The model is priced $5,165 lower than the Edge ST – $38,100.

Expect the trend started by the Edge ST-Line to carry over into other Ford models as the company ensures that there is an option for every possible buyer. Currently, Ford sells an Explorer ST. An Explorer ST-Line could fill a gap between that and the Explorer Limited or XLT models. There is currently no Escape ST in Ford’s stable, though an Escape ST-Line may be more appropriate for the Escape’s audience.

The Edge ST has been a sales success for the company. Since its 2018 introduction, sales have outperformed the previous Edge Sport model, with nearly double the number sold. In 2019 and 2020, nearly 13 percent of all Edge sales have been ST models.

Orders can be placed for the Edge ST-Line starting today.
