A long list of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, including the 2017 GLS450, have been recalled.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today issued a recall on a long list of model year 2013-2017 Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The recall is specifically due to a software fault that may cause the date and time for the emergency call system (eCall) to differ from the actual date and time, potentially relaying an inaccurate vehicle location to emergency responders.

To remedy the problem, Mercedes-Benz has initiated an Over the Air (OTA) remote update. The automaker will also notify owners, and dealers will check software for a successful OTA or update the communication module software as needed, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin December 31, 2019. For more information, vehicle owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
