AMG plus GLC equals a new, high-power version of the Mercedes GLC-Class SUV. The mid-size model gets a new AMG version for the 2022 model year bringing a robust V8 and honed drive dynamics to the popular family hauler.
The 2022 Mercedes- AMG GLC 63 S is fitted with a handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that achieves 503 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This is the same engine that can be found in the GLC Coupe’s AMG variant. It’s been added to the traditional SUV-shaped model to meet demand from customers. The engine, paired with an nine-speed automatic transmission, can get the car from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
These are upgraded numbers compared to the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, which gets 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. That model is two-tenths of a second slower off the line. The electronically limited top speed of the GLC 63 is 155 mph compared to the GLC 63 S’s 174 mph.
Mercedes has given the SUV a long list of standard features that enhance its drive dynamics: drive modes, an air suspension with adaptive damping adjustment, an electronic locking differential, dynamic engine mounts, and a performance exhaust system.. The SUV’s steering wheel has Touch Control buttons.
The SUV rides on 20-inch AMG design wheels, has LED high-performance headlights and taillights, and comes standard with the Multimedia Package, which includes augmented video for navigation. In front of the driver is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Buyers can add the AMG Aerodynamics Package, Exterior Carbon Fiber Package, AMG Performance Seats, AMG Night Package, AMG Performance Studio Package with extended additional high-gloss black elements, and a selection of leather upholsteries and interior trim options including AMG Carbon Fiber.
U.S. deliveries of the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S SUV begin in the fourth quarter of 2021.
