The MDX Prototype will be a foreshadowing of the new MDX, which will launch early next year. Acura promises that the flagship SUV will be the “most premium and performance-focused MDX in Acura history”.

The automaker, Honda’s premium arm, is already touting the three-row SUV’s “striking design, rich and authentic materials, and an array of signature new Acura technologies.” The images released to day support the talk.

The cabin of the MDX has been designed to fit the new Acura aesthetic. Its instrument panel is lower and wider. Open pore wood surfaces and hand-wrapped leather with French stitching give the cabin a feeling of luxury. Gradient perforation, and high-contrast stitching, and piping will be featured on the seats of the model.

In the Prototype there is quilting on all three rows of seats. As featured, the seven-seater has a large center console between the captain’s chairs in the second row while the console up front appears straight out of the TLX playbook, complete with two upholders, wireless charging pad, shifter, and Acura’s touch pad infotainment system controls.

Switchgear is more than just functional. From the door pull to the seat memory, it appears both functional and stylish.

It looks sophisticated and expensive.

Acura has already revealed that the next-gen MDX will feature “first-class seating comfort” which will come by the way of a wider body design and multi-mode front-seat massage functionality.

The MDX Prototype will feature the Acura Precision Cockpit all-digital driver’s meter, an ultra-wide full-HD center display with crisp graphics, and a 25-speaker Signature Edition ELS Studio 3D premium audio system with integrated LED ambient lighting.

Images also reveal a large sunroof that takes up a big portion of the roof area of the MDX Prototype.

The exterior of the MDX Prototype has already been revealed in an image shared by the company last week.

Acura will reveal the model in full on October 14.
