David Brown Automotive crafts unique, limited edition automobiles at their 18,000-square-foot home base in Silverstone, England. A Blue Moon-painted Speedback GT is their latest build. Before it heads to its home in Germany, David Brown Automotive has given a peek at the bespoke creation.
The Speedback GT has been a staple of the David Brown Automotive product lineup since 2013 when the company was launched. This particular model underwent an 8,000-hour build process to achieve its finished look.
David Brown Automotive created the entirely bespoke vehicle using a combination of handcrafted leathers, wood veneers, and bespoke brightware plating. It has a unique picnic seat feature and rides on 19-inch polished stainless steel wire wheels wrapped in David Brown-branded tires, a combination that is best for summer driving conditions. The wheels were developed in partnership with Avon Tyres. A set of bespoke Union Flag-inspired alloy wheels come with the model for winter weather driving.
The Speedback GT also has a black mesh satin grille and inset auxiliary LED lighting.
Inside the car’s cabin, the are hand-crafted Elm Burr satin lacquered wood veneers and ‘Tabak’ tan leather upholstery. All of the brightware has been milled from solid billets of aluminum and then plated in nickel chrome.
The owner of the car has specified a custom drinks set that holds their preferred gin and tonic and two crystal highball glasses, along with a bespoke woollen picnic blanket. The set sits below the picnic seat, which extends from the rear like the one in the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
Each Speedback GT is a 1960s inspired grand tourer that is crafted on the Jaguar XK all-aluminum platform. The 5.0-liter V8 engine is also from Jaguar. It produces 601 brake horsepower and 565 pound-feet of torque.
According to Autocar, as of 2018, the price of a Speedback GT started at £520,000.00 GBP plus local taxes. The price of this particular model has not been publicly announced.
