Eric Clapton has been busy divesting himself of a few members of his automotive collection. First it was his 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, now his Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano F1 is up for sale. GVE London has listed the Ferrari on Auto Trader for £89,900.
Clapton’s long been known as an avid car enthusiast. While his favorite brand is Ferrari, there have been a few others that shaped his passion from a 1938 Cadillac Fleetwood to a 1967 Mini Cooper. The Mini Cooper has a fabulous story behind it. The car originally belonged to Beatles guitarist George Harrison who had it decorated with psychedelic images inspired by the book “Tantra Art” in 1967. Harrison gave the car to Clapton but then took it back just two years later.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano F1 is one of Clapton’s most desirable cars though Clapton has gone on record saying that his Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is the one he prefers. It is a grand tourer designed by Pininfarina. It was in production for just five model years – 2007 to 2012.
This model features a contrasting Nero Daytona Black paint job and a Castoror Light Brown interior. A Bose HiFi System has been installed. The Ferrari also has monolithic 20-inch alloys and the renowned Scuderia Ferrari shields.
Its 6.0-liter V12 engine can get from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The car has a top speed of 205 mph.
Auto Trader’s YouTube Director, Rory Reid says: “The legend that is Eric Clapton is renowned for his classic car collection – after his music career of course – and it’s well known how much he loves his Ferraris. He’s even made use of Ferrari’s secretive One-Off Programme in the past for a reported £3million, so you know he’s not messing around!
“This particular Ferrari 599 is stunning and so well-maintained. The fact it received Eric Clapton’s seal of approval before being sold on makes it that much more special. For a blues lover, who also has the money for it, this is a perfect buy on Auto Trader.”
