The McLaren Artura is coming. Just a few days remain until the new high-performance hybrid is unveiled on February 16. Until then a video and image of the car have been made public to whet your appetite and AutomotiveMap has dissected what is show to give you a better idea of what to expect.
More than five decades of McLaren design, engineering, and racing experience have been put into the Artura. It features super-lightweight engineering and what McLaren calls “racing technology”. It’s being billed as a “next-generation supercar”.
McLaren isn’t the only supercar manufacturer to get into the hybrid game. Italian automakers are already firmly planted there. The Ferrari SF90 comes in Stradale and Spider variants, with each achieving over 950 horsepower. The Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 is so popular with supercar fans that it got a LEGO Technic version and inspired a Ducati motorcycle.

With a pinched front, budding bubble roof, and rising haunches out back, the Artura looks like it has the hallmarks of a typical McLaren profile.
The video provided by McLaren shows it wearing a green paint job. Not that it’s at all connected to the Artura (it could be), but the company recently presented a unique green car, the McLaren Verdant Theme GT by MSO. It featured cashmere upholstery and a point job that took 430 hours to apply.
Long headlights creep up the front of the car while at the rear McLaren’s signature black honeycomb bodywork sits below slim horizontal taillights. A dual exhaust system is embedded in the honeycomb.
Sleek door handles sit on dihedral doors that, along with large air intakes, dominate the sides of the car. A black sound system speaker, green brake calipers wrapped around carbon ceramic brakes, and darkened five double-V-spoke wheels are shown in the preview video as well.
The interior of the car features a fully digital gauge cluster. When plugged in, the car displays charging percentage achieved and remaining length of time left to charge to get the vehicle to full. There’s a range meter for both the electric battery and gasoline fuel, shown to be full at 20 and halfway at 175, respectively, in the preview.
When powered on, the display changes to feature a tachometer across the top of the screen. Underneath it on the far left of the screen is a tire pressure monitoring system display while below that are a number of drive dynamics settings options with their chosen setting shown. Vehicle dynamics control and electronic stability control will be employed on the new car and can be customized. In the preview, McLaren takes the car up to 145 mph.
At the bottom of the digital gauge cluster are illuminations indicating that the Artura comes with automatic high beams. Other information shown along the bottom of the screen includes headlights on/off, odometer, time, and temperature. The color of the display changes from blue (off and charging) to green (on and ready to drive) in the video.
The all-new McLaren Artura will make its global debut 7 p.m. EST on Tuesday, February 16.
