When it comes to getting work done, having the right tool is key. For many, that means having a powerful pickup truck. Today, trucks are more powerful than ever and have capabilities that not only require special licensure but would rival tractor trailers in the past. Advances in manufacturing and mixed materials are to blame, but ultimately that is all meaningless without pure grunt.
To that end, AutomotiveMap has complied a list of the most powerful pickup trucks that you can buy for the 2020 model year. Horsepower and torque don’t directly correlate to towing and payload, but both are absolutely required to move mountains.
Here’s a list of the top 5 most powerful pickup trucks by torque, to see the most powerful pickup trucks by horsepower click here.

850 pound-feet of torque
Ram Trucks offers two diesel engines in their 2020 Heavy Duty. The base Cummins engine still has 850 pound-feet of torque, which would be enough to dominate this category a few years ago. Not anymore.
No. 4 – 2020 GMC Sierra Heavy Duty with 6.6-liter Duramax

910 pound-feet of torque
Both the Chevrolet and GMC HD trucks share a new 10-speed automatic transmission and a Duramax diesel engine as an option. That’s why they are tied on this list. But the combination is epic, allowing for a max towing of 35,500 pounds when properly equipped.

910 pound-feet of torque
As with the Sierra, the Silverado can tow up to 35,500 pounds. Both trucks share similar features, with the Silverado carrying a more western theme and the Sierra a more modern theme.

1,000 pound-feet of torque
The Ram Heavy Duty was the first truck to hit 1,000 lb-ft of torque, which is a huge number. Unfortunately, they limit it to on a select number of 3500 models and is an expensive upgrade. Paired to a tried-and-true 6-speed automatic, the Ram has a max tow rating of 35,100 pounds.
No. 1 – 2020 Ford Super Duty with 6.7-liter Power Stroke

1,050 pound-feet of torque
Ford once again conquers the list, while offering the best-in-class horsepower but also best-in-class available diesel torque. Ram broke the 1,000 lb-ft barrier, but Ford made sure to have them beat. Combined with a new 10-speed automatic, the Ford Super Duty can tow up to an astonishing 37,000 pounds when properly equipped.
