The Subaru Impreza has long been a fantastic value, offering all-wheel drive and excellent safety equipment at a reasonable price. The 2024 Subaru Impreza just showed up at the Los Angeles Auto Show, but the automaker dropped the long-running sedan shape in favor of a wagon-only lineup.
Subaru offers three trims for 2024: Base, Sport, and a brand-new RS. The Base and Sport trims come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. The RS trim gets a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. Both engines send power to all four wheels through a continuously variable transmission.
The return of the RS trim brings rally-inspired styling touches to the Impreza. It gets 18-inch wheels and dark exterior trim. Unique LED lighting and badges further differentiate the RS from other Impreza trims. Inside, the RS’ cabin gets sport seats with red accents and RS logos throughout. Subaru also tuned its CVT to emulate an eight-speed manual-shift automatic transmission.
An 11.6-inch touchscreen is available for the first time in an Impreza and brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Subaru integrated climate and other vehicle controls, making the large display the central hub of in-cabin vehicle interactions. The large touchscreen comes standard for Sport and RS trims and brings Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, and over-the-air updates.
All 2024 Imprezas come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist tech. The package brings blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, rear seat reminders, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warnings, lane keep assist, lane departure warnings, and more. The previous Impreza earned a Top Safety Pick designation from the IIHS, and Subaru says it believes the new car will match or better its predecessor’s performance.
