Ford’s new Built Wild credentials are similar to Jeep’s Trail Rated ones. Built Wild is more than just a badge or a selling point. It’s a level of achievement for Ford vehicles.

Ford has confirmed that there will be three members of the Bronco family: the two- and four-door Bronco, and the Bronco Sport. All will be 2021 model year SUVs. They also all have earned their Built Wild credentials using what Ford calls their “principles”, which include Built Wild Extreme Durability Testing, Built Wild Capability, and Built Wild Innovative Design.

Built Wild Extreme Durability Testing includes a series of elevated torture tests for Ford models. It is designed to ensure that Ford models are able to handle tough conditions. The company used a series of lab, proving ground, and real world challenges in tough and harsh climates to prove the vehicles worthy.

Built Wild Capability means that a vehicle is ready to conquer any sort of terrain. The original Bronco was built to be a G.O.A.T., which back then didn’t refer to Tom Brady or stand for the “greatest of all time”. Instead it meant “go over any-type of terrain”. Ford ensured that this legacy would continue in the new Bronco by giving it standard 4×4 capability as well as an exclusive terrain management system. Ford is promising class-leading capability and suspension technology.

Built Wild Innovative Design takes the history and legacy of the Bronco even further. Ford sees Broncos as “the future of off-roading” that “deliver off-road ingenuity, new design innovations coupled with heritage-inspired DNA, plus new-levels of personalization that can flatter the novice and challenge the expert adventure seeker.” That’s bold talk.

Ford is also promising that the vehicles will be dependable.
