The bull logo and the scissor doors are perhaps the two most identifiable parts of any Lamborghini. The Countach was the first production Lambo model to ever feature the door style. Sure, they are cool looking, but the doors weren’t just for looks. In an era before rearview cameras were commonplace, the doors enabled the driver to lean their upper body out and see behind the car as they back it up.
Despite the fact that the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette comes standard with a rearview camera and a fine set of more traditional doors of its own, Eikon Motorsports is now offering a scissor door kit for the model.
The kit includes two gas shocks, two Vertical Doors Inc. Lambo door hinges, and all requisite mounting hardware. The equipment is made of domestic hardened steel.
Installers use the kit and the original doors that come on the Vette to complete the look. The DIY price is $2,899 when the kit becomes available. If you want Eikon to install the kits for you, the final price goes up to $4,300. The shop is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company says that installation can happen in the owner’s driveway or garage.
However, you can get the kit and installation for just $2,999 when you pre-order. A limited number of pre-order slots are available.
The parts are covered by a lifetime warranty. Eikon Motorsports says that the work does not void the warranty on your Corvette, however, you might want to check with your dealership before committing.
This modification is reversible.
Vertical Doors Inc. is a U.S. company located in Lake Elsinore, California, just north of Temecula. The Chevrolet Corvette is made in the U.S. as well, at the General Motors plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The Corvette is all-new for the 2020 model year. The big news is that its engine has been moved to the middle and it’s gotten supercar-like looks. It’s faster than a Ferrari 488 GTB. The 2020 Corvette starts below $60,000.
Eikon Motorpsorts is currently accepting pre-orders for the kits via their website.
