The Z06 raised $3.6 million for Operation Homefront, a veteran's assistance organization.

Barrett-Jackson is one of the biggest names in the world of automotive auctions, but some of the company’s most impressive work happens beyond the auction block. The Scottsdale, AZ company got its start more than 50 years ago with auctions to benefit various charities, and giving is still a big part of its operations today.

In the first auction of 2022, Barrett-Jackson’s stage saw several rare, first-production, and celebrity-owned cars, some of which sold for millions of dollars with 100 percent going to charity. One of the most impressive charity cars was a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 that crossed the block with a winning bid of $3.6 million – a far cry from the car’s sub-$100,000 retail starting price. All proceeds will go to Operation Homefront, an organization that helps veterans make the transition back to the civilian world.

The 2023 Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition grabbed a crazy winning bid amount, but it wasn’t the only seven-figure auction result to benefit charity. Two first-production 2022 Toyota Tundra full-size pickups raised more than $1.2 million, the full amount of which will go to the Toyota U.S. Paralympic Fund.

Chevy plans for the Z06 to enter production in summer 2022, but there’s a near-zero chance of finding one sitting on a dealer’s lot. The car will be built in extremely limited numbers, and that’s on top of the fact that all makes and models are in short supply right now. Unfortunately, that almost certainly means big profits for scalpers, but even the greediest reseller isn’t going to get $3.6 million for the value-packed supercar.
