Italy has a strong automotive past. The modern sports car wouldn’t be where it is today without the likes of Italy’s native sons, Pinin Farina, Franco Scaglione, and others. But it wasn’t always easy. World War II, a depressed economy, and a focus on profitable mass market production have threatened the industry in one way or another over the years.
p>The newest livery from Maserati celebrates Italian heritage, placing it front and center. A tricolor band of green, white and red stripes, applied by the skilled operatives of the Modena Plant’s Paint Shop, run over the bonnet and on the roof of the car, is available on select 2020 Maserati Levantes and Ghiblis. Soon the livery will be available on all models in all markets.

The automaker has chosen to display five vehicles with the design in cities across the Mediterranean. Three Maserati Levante Trofeo models as well as two Levante GTS SUVs will be shown this July at locations yet to be confirmed.
The company is quite proud of their Italian lineage and recently took steps to solidify their commitment to the country and the future of the brand. Earlier this month, a teaser video was released showing the company’s Moderna headquarters building being hit by computer animated lightning. The imagery was meant to signify the company’s electrified vehicles future.
That future includes a completely redesigned Maserati Ghibli Hybrid. It will be first, later this year. The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabriolet will begin production in 2021 as the automaker’s first all-electric cars. The next-gen GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be built at the Mirafiori production hub.
Maserati’s Modena facility is in the process of a remodel, which will allow it to be modified enough to begin producing what the company is calling a “super sports car” in 2020.The Ghibli Hybrid will have the first hybrid engine in the history of the marque.

A forthcoming Maserati utility vehicle is set to be built at Cassino in 2021. The automaker is already teasing the model saying that it is, “intended to play a leading role for the brand, thanks to its innovative technologies.” Technological innovation is not something Maserati has been known for lately so this could be a welcome change.
