Get ready to annoy your neighbors and have a great time in the process. Last week, we learned all about the new 2024 Ford Mustang and the upcoming Dark Horse variant. Just a few days later, videos are surfacing with exhaust sounds and walkaround tours. YouTuber DtRockstar1 caught the car accelerating away from a parking lot during the Mustang Stampede event, and the sound is everything you’d want from a rowdy V8-powered muscle car.

Ford promises a minimum of 500 horsepower for the Dark Horse, which it says makes it the most powerful 5.0-liter V8 ever. It comes paired with a six-speed manual or ten-speed automatic transmission, and the car gets a host of upgrades to its aerodynamics and suspension. Mustang Dark Horse buyers also enjoy the benefit of a new dual throttle-body intake design that brings a unique front fascia design.

The Mustang Dark Horse will also be available in two track-only versions, called Dark Horse S and Dark Horse R, and Ford has confirmed that it will field teams of GT3 and GT4 cars at various events, including Daytona and Le Mans

If you’re hoping to get your hands on a Mustang Dark Horse – and, after listening to this video, who wouldn’t be – you’ll have to wait a while. Since it’s a 2024 model, Ford is in no major hurry to trot the pony cars out to dealers. When it does, sometime in 2023, competition to purchase one will likely be intense. Remember, Ford currently struggles to produce enough mainstream models like the Maverick and Bronco to meet demand, so a lower-production high-performance car could be exceedingly elusive.
