Redesigned 2021 Nissan Rogue ups the ante but isn't revolutionary

The redesigned 2021 Nissan Rogue will have a starting price of $25,650, just $160 more than the 2020 Rogue. Traditionally, vehicles go up much more in price as part of a generational change. This price is higher than the starting MSRP of Rogue’s top competitors, the 2020 Honda CR-V, 2020 Ford Escape, 2020 Mazda CX-5, 2021 Subaru Forester, and 2021 Toyota RAV4.

Nissan will sell the Rogue in four trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum. All models come standard with front-wheel drive (FWD). All-wheel drive (AWD) is available across the lineup for an additional $1,400.

“Rogue is the first of six new vehicles that will be in Nissan showrooms by the end of 2021,” said Mike Colleran, senior vice president, Nissan U.S. Marketing and Sales. “As Nissan looks toward the future with dramatic new models like the upcoming Ariya electric crossover and the just-announced Z Proto, we’re updating our model lineup with fresh, exciting and innovative vehicles that will thrill our customers.”

Pricing for each trim level is as follows:

  • 2021 Nissan Rogue S FWD – $25,650
  • 2021 Nissan Rogue S AWD – $27,050
  • 2021 Nissan Rogue SV FWD – $27,340
  • 2021 Nissan Rogue SV AWD – $28,740
  • 2021 Nissan Rogue SL FWD – $32,000
  • 2021 Nissan Rogue SL AWD – $33,400
  • 2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum FWD – $35,430
  • 2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum AWD – $36,830

Two optional packages are available: the SV Premium Package at $2,660 and the SL Premium Package at $1,320.

In addition to being more expensive at the onset, the Rogue tops out higher than most of its competition too. It doesn’t have a focused off-road variant like the RAV4, nor a hybrid version (now available for CR-V, Escape, and RAV4).

The Rogue does have some class-leading and exclusive features. It is available with class-exclusive tri-zone climate control and pull-up sunshades, and has the most standard safety technologies in its class. Rogue’s 9.0-inch infotainment screen is the largest infotainment screen in its class. It also has Nissan Zero Gravity seats in the front and back, which provided unparalleled comfort.

The 2021 Nissan Rogue will go on sale in late October.
