The 2021 Ford Edge has been refined for the new model year as the SUV continues its second-generation runs as part of the Ford stable. The most noticeable changes are to the Ford’s interior where new technologies bring the Edge into line with its more advanced fellow SUVs, most notably the fresh Escape and Explorer.

“Ford Edge is the choice for tech-savvy customers on the go,” said Angela Cascaden, Edge marketing manager. “It offers standard Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies with driver assist features. And with SYNC 4A with over-the-air updates, customers can get the latest tech and services from Ford at any time – no dealership visit required.”

Among the technological enhancements for the 2021 model year are the SYNC 4A system, which includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and SYNC AppLink. Customers subscribed to SiriusXM with 360L, the 2021 Edge can also provide a curated listening experience with on-demand streamed content and personalized entertainment channels.

At the center of the dashboard is an available 12-inch infotainment screen, which includes optional navigation. The system interacts with the cloud to offer conversational voice recognition technology. This allows users to request information from the system as they would in real life from a person like, “Find me the best Thai restaurant.” This conversational technique also allows text and messaging capability.

Information on the screen can be split into larger and smaller windows. Ford offers an example: “If a customer wants to keep their navigation route on the screen while changing songs, they can choose to display the radio or other streaming music services in the Adaptive Dash Cards display area.”

The SYNC system includes a digital owners manual that allows for more in-depth product information than what you’d find in a typical owners manual including streamable videos and searchable databases.

The 2021 Edge becomes the first Ford SUV to offer Ford Co-Pilot360 as standard. Its suite of driver assist and safety technology includes active parts assist, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering, and a 180-degree front camera.

Ford is giving the SUV new interior Ceramic color scheme options for 2021 on Titanium Elite models and a cloth interior option for Edge SEL models. Buyers also have the option of getting an Edge in the newly available Carbonized Gray and Lithium Gray paint jobs.
