The Aston Martin DB5 Junior is designed for well-heeled junior drivers.

The DB5 is one of the world’s most iconic vehicles. From being the best supporting actor in early James Bond films to earning a spot on the list of the best British cars ever made, the Aston Martin DB5 is a beloved page in automotive history.

Now, a junior car model of the DB5 will usher in a new generation of Aston Martin enthusiasts. The brand has teamed up with The Little Car Company to create the DB5 Junior, a two-thirds scale electric junior car. The model too over 15 months to develop and utilized a 3D scene of the original DB5 to complete accuracy and authenticity.

The DB5 Junior is about 3 meters long and 1.1 meters wide. It’s designed to accommodate an adult and child side by side in a bucket seat, allowing for a multi-generational driving experience. It has a honeycomb chassis and a weight under 270 kg.

The car’s electric powertrain delivers five kilowatts and 6.7 bhp to the rear wheels. It has a 30 mph top speed, which is regulated by billet aluminum accelerator and brake pedals.

According to a release, the DB5 Junior sports the same iconic Aston Martin ‘wings’, ‘shield’ and DB5 badges as the original 1963 model. “Like its big brother, the dashboard features functional Smiths instruments, which have been updated for the modern era. The fuel gauge has been converted into a battery meter, while the oil temperature now monitors the motor temperature. The same Smiths clock as seen in the original 1960s car sits proudly in front of the passenger seat.

A two-thirds scale steering wheel sits in front of the dash, but now has a racing-style quick release to make entry and exit easier for the driver. There are working headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and a horn.

The DB5’s iconic Silver Birch paint job is standard on the junior-sized car, with a black leather interior.

Like the original, the pint-sized car has a double wishbone suspension. There is also a period-correct live axle, with authentic upper and lower trailing arm suspension and Panhard rod.

The rig rides on 10-inch wire wheels, complete with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes that offer regenerative braking.

Power is transmitted to the ground through 10″ wire wheels with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, complemented by regenerative braking. A rally-style handbrake is included.

Under the hood is a removable battery pack that delivers 10 to 20 miles of driving range, depending on driving style. A second battery can be added, and each pack can be swapped for a replacement in a matter of seconds.

The junior car also has three integrated selectable driving modes. Novice, Expert, and Race modes deliver a varying degree of power.

As with their modern Aston Martin, buyers of the DB5 Junior buyers can customize their model with an option to match their full-size version of the car. Each model will be available with a number of accessories including flight cases, additional batteries, covers, toolkits and custom number plates.
